Through the Arts for All initiative, the Kimmel Center provides free educational programs, community partnerships and expanded free programming. Partnering with leading educational and business institutions, we promote arts education through innovative programs and community outreach efforts in the Philadelphia region. We also provide free performances for the public in a wide variety of genres, making the arts accessible to the community in a variety of ways.
Curriculum-Based Performing Arts Classes
Free performing arts classes in Music, Dance and Theater Arts;
71 classes, 1,275 students, 30 schools.
Dance in the Schools
Taught by dancers from resident company PHILADANCO;
77 students, 4 schools.
Teen Summer Arts Camp
4 two-week, tuition-free camps for ages 14-18;
Sessions in Choral/Vocal, Jazz, Chamber Music, Pipe Organ.
Kimmel Center Youth Jazz Ensemble
Rehearsals, Master Classes and Performances;
21 students from grades 5-9.
Community Education Partnerships and Initiatives
PNC "Grow Up Great"
Free Saturday morning interactive concerts designed for children under five years old.
"Bop and Swing", a program for ages 3-5, designed to promote literacy development and an appreciation for American culture through music and movement classes.
Temple University Early Childhood Music Program
Arts Partners
The Arts Partners is a community outreach program that engages community-based organizations
working with underserved youth and their families and provides them with meaningful arts
experiences including performances, educational arts engagement activities and artist chats.
Friday Live
Free concerts in Commonwealth Plaza every Friday from 5:30 -7:30pm, set in a casual cabaret atmosphere with artists
drawn from the vibrant Philadelphia music scene.
